Ramadan

Ar-Rayyan Academy offers Ramadan/Iftar/Taraweeh services for the community.

We ask Allah ﷻ to strengthen us in Ramadan, accept our fasts, and reward us with His forgiveness and the highest place in Paradise. Ameen!
Ramadan: Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic year which follows a lunar calendar as opposed to the solar one many of us are used to. This month brings with it an opportunity for Muslims to reconnect with God through fasting, engaging more in prayer, and spending on the poor. Ramadan is the month in which Islam’s Holy Book, the Quran, was revealed. Thus, the month is referred to as the Month of the Quran, and many Muslims try to engage more with the text in these days.

Muslims believe that in the month of Ramadan, the gates of Heaven are opened, the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained. This means doing good and staying away from bad are supposed to be easier. Many Muslims find themselves able to take part in activities that would have seemed impossible at other times of the year, like fasting and standing in prayer during the late hours of the night. Muslims believe God exponentially rewards during this month, so the more time you spend doing good, the better. Fasting the month of Ramadan is one of the main pillars of Islam. It is obligatory upon every sane, healthy Muslim whose reached puberty and is not traveling during the time of fasting.

Allaah ﷻ says in the Quran what may be interpreted as, “O’ you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you so that you may achieve Taqwaa (righteousness, God-fearing)-Sura Al-Baqarah 2 – 183”

The prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, “Whoever observes the fast during the month of Ramadan, (while) believing in Allaah and seeking His rewards, will have his past sins forgiven.” [Imaams Bukhaari & Muslim]

The prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, “Whoever feeds the person who is breaking his fast, he will have his reward (for his fasting) without decreasing anything from the reward of the fasting person.”[Al-Tirmidhi]

The prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, ‘(O people!) Save yourselves from the (Hell) Fire even if it is with half a date (given in charity), and if you cannot find that, then (save yourselves by saying) a good word’. [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]
